LUCY CALDWELL
Born in Belfast, Lucy Caldwell is the award-winning author of four novels, including These Days, four collections of short stories, most recently Devotions, and several stage plays and radio dramas. Her most recent book, The Spell of a Story (Scratch Books, 2027), is a non-fiction exploration of how and why we write stories; part memoir, part metaphysics, part magic.
In her most recent book, The Spell of a Story, Lucy Caldwell takes you through the writing of a story, from the very first spark to the final edits. In this session she will discuss what it means to be a writer, where ideas come from, how to decide what form a story wants to take, and how to navigate specific technical challenges. She will also discuss good editing practice, and how to know when your story is finished. There will be plenty of time at the end for your own questions, about short stories and about writing in general.
